We combine woodworking, modelmaking and sculpting-
igniting creativity, resourcefulness and wild abandon.

Located in the Catskill Mountains next to the Delaware River, Beagle & Potts Woodsmith are nestled in the woods of Sullivan County, 1.5 hours from the George Washington Bridge.
We offer classes all year round to absolute beginners and beyond, so no more excuses, jump on in!
New classes added regularly.

“I just wanted to say that your work moves me. Everything you touched had such heart and humor. We’ve been learning a lot about space and its effect upon our lives. The things that you make are not just aesthetic objects. They make a certain kind of living possible. Your gifts (in several senses of the word) are considerable.” -Larry G.

Sunday Journal News- Artist Review 1980

Marcy Pesner grew up and lived in Montreal before dashing off to Skidmore College where she received a degree in Printmaking in the Fine Arts department. Casually armed with a Fullbright scholarship, she then went on to Indiana University, Bloomington Indiana where she graduated in Printmaking and Sculpture. Having appreciated and endured all the subtleties of the midwest, Marcy returned to the northeast to Nyack, New York where she became an artist in residence in Rockland County’s  CETA program; the 1970’s answer to the 1930’s WPA project. The program helped artists by funding their work which was then donated to the county arts program for permanent display.

marcy2Marcy moved to Brooklyn and stayed for 30 years, until 2011. She went from being an architectural modelmaker at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, to movie manager at the now defunct but famous Bleeker Street Cinema, to offset printer, to modelmaker at Aoki Special Effects Modelmaking Studio, to head of the modelmaking studio at Remco Toys and  founder and owner emeritus of Beagle & Potts Woodworking and The Beagle & Potts Institute Of Higher Woodworking.

Marcy bought property in Glen Spey, New York in 2007 and has been residing there full time since 2011. In the last year she has achieved a lifelong goal of teaching, crafting, living, hanging out with friends and chopping wood on her own land.

Marcy continues to design, fabricate and install commissioned kitchens and storage solutions.
